Get real-time fermentation data with our PLAATO Pro sensors
Our PLAATO Pros collect your fermentation activity, gravity and temperature to give you production insights, trends, and more – all accessible through the PLAATO app and web app. 24/7, 365 days a year.
What is PLAATO Pro?
Our PLAATO Pro sensors give you a fermentation monitoring system designed to help breweries achieve consistency, efficiency and quality. Our sensors measure specific gravity (density), temperature and fermentation progress in real time. They connect to our PLAATO platform, so you can constantly monitor your fermentation and take action when you need to.
The PLAATO Pro Sensor is your ultimate brewing companion, offering real-time, non-invasive monitoring of gravity, temperature, and fermentation activity for precise control over every batch.
How PLAATO Pro works
The PLAATO Pro sensor uses advanced tuning fork technology to precisely measure density and temperature in real time. Made from 100% stainless steel, it ensures the highest quality and durability while maintaining purity by only contacting the fermenting liquid.
The sensors use a tuning fork immersed in the liquid in the tank to measure the specific gravity (Plato) and temperature 24/7. This is then sent to the cloud where you can monitor it on your phone, laptop or desktop.
The PLAATO Pro integrates effortlessly with fermenters using a 1.5” tri-clamp connection. Need to retain a sample port? No problem—adapters and T-connectors are available to fit your setup. Best of all, it requires no user calibration. PLAATO Pro is fully CIP compatible, though many brewers opt to remove the sensor for cleaning, ensuring maximum flexibility and convenience.

PLAATO Pro
key benefits
Together, these features allow brewers to continuously monitor fermentation conditions and optimize the brewing process, improving quality and productivity.
It’s fermentation management done simply and stress-free.
-
Our PLAATO Pros automatically measure 48 times a day, significantly reducing the amount of manual work required by your team. They also accurately determine when fermentation is complete, shortening the tank residence time and reducing cooling costs and labour.
-
without manual intervention , giving you a detailed view of fermentation progress.
-
Real-time monitoring allows you to minimize the variation between batches and maintain quality. Comparison with past batches is also easy, allowing for early detection of fermentation abnormalities.
-
Based on accurate specific gravity data, you can then decide on cooling or transporting immediately after fermentation. This improves tank turnover and can increase annual production.
-
Collecting this fermentation data enables scientific analysis of your brewery’s optimal fermentation conditions. For example, you can compare the performance of different yeast strains and test your fermentation under different temperature conditions.
-
Even after installation, we provide technical support and troubleshoot if necessary. And we can even help you identify bottlenecks, or efficiencies. Plus, we are constantly improving, and finding new ways to help. Like our new PLAATO Edge device.
-
Get notifications when fermentation is nearing completion or if any abnormalities occur.
-
Made from food grade stainless steel and CIP (clean in place) ready. Battery powered or hardwired available.
Set up made easy
PLAATO Pro is designed to be easily attached to a standard tri-clamp port. Simply connect to Wi-Fi and you can start using it immediately. Our team can talk you through it or offer support to any staff.
Installation and Maintenance
Recommended point of installation: Above the cone of a conical vessel, typically ~1/3rd of the total height of the fermentation tank, as measured from the bottom.
Plug and Play Tri-Clamp Connection: Tri-Clamp 1.5” or DN25-50 to install PLAATO Pro in the fermenter.
Power: Request PLAATO either with batteries (C-cell) or cabled power.
Connectivity: We provide PLAATO Connect along with the PLAATO Pro. PLAATO Connect links to your WiFi router and is pre-programmed for seamless automatic connection to the PLAATO Pro.
Fermentation Process Conditions
Temperature Range: 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F)
Pressure: 0 to 6 bar gauge pressure (0 to +87 PSI)
Waterproof: Designed with the brewer’s environment in mind, PLAATO Pro is made from durable materials and is IP67 rated.
CIP: PLAATO Pro is CIP compatible.
Minimum tank size:1hl or more. A minimum of 50cm / 20″ of liquid is necessary above the probe to achieve stable reading conditions.

Diameter: The diameter of the PLAATO PRO inserted into the tank is 22.75mm/ 0.89″, so it requires a port with a diameter greater than this
Length: the length of the stem inserted into the tank is 290mm / 11.5″. The PLAATO PRO requires a minimum insertion length of 100mm / 3,9” from the inner tank wall.

Factors that can impact accuracy: Fermentation is an organic process, and there are local factors that can adversely impact the sensor readings. This includes excessive bubble formation from nucleation points below the installation port, excessive yeast flocculation, liquids with too many suspended particles, proximity to active cooling systems and others. In these cases we will either find a solution to the challenges, or in cases where the setup or process is simply incompatible with PLAATO we offer a 60 day money back guarantee.
